IBS

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common gastrointestinal disorders, with a prevalence estimated at between 10% and 20%.

Patients. If you are considering hypnotherapy / CBT for IBS. Ask your doctor if he / she will fund your treatment. The NICE Guidelines for IBS allow doctors to pay for hypnosis / CBT for IBS treatment after 12 months of non effective drug therapy.
“RECOMMENDATION: Referral for psychological interventions (cognitive behavioural therapy [CBT], hypnotherapy and/or psychological therapy) should be considered for people with IBS who do not respond to Pharmacological treatments after 12 months and who develop a continuing symptom profile (described as refractory IBS)”
